OLD SIMO RULES OF ENGAGEMENT AND UPDATES
Hey everyone! I have been receiving a number of emails asking whether the Old Simo website has an official app. Currently Old Simo uses Tapatalk as an app feature. Tapatalk is an application to allow easier access to forums online. It provides improved forum access for mobile phones and sends notifications of new posts for any blog that a user is following.
When you first log onto Old Simo via your phone it will give you the option to download Tapatalk. A notification will pop up among the website’s header. Click download to install Tapatalk on your mobile phone device. If you did not click on this option on your first visit to the website, simply search for the Tapatalk app on Google Play or click here if you have an android or App Store or click here if you are using an iphone.
It is a free app. Hit Install and Accept. Once it is installed hit open. If it asks you about payments please ignore this and hit skip or continue. You will not be charged for this app. It will ask you to add a site. Click on that and search for Old Simo. Once the logo comes up, it will give you an option to follow, click follow and you will receive notifications through your Tapatalk app about new posts. Once you are on Old Simo through Tapatalk you can click on any posting to read and then to interact to the post you simply scroll down to the bottom of the post and click on the sign in/sign up tab. Click on follow link and it will take you to a page where you can either sign up or sign in.
I’ve also been asked about how the structure of the discussions will work. Initially we will start off with a few discussions a week. Official debates and discussions will begin in mid August. Posts will go up around 5pm Australian Eastern time with notifications of a new discussion post being uploaded on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google Plus. We will begin with discussions every Monday to Thursday and I will include more topics during the week as time goes on. I will set the topic by presenting an issue in article format. It will generally contain an introduction, some statistics and facts, and a collection of arguments for and against the issue.
I will also pose a number of questions for you, in regards to the topic which will help in your feedback on the subject of discussion. I will be active in every discussion and I will ask you questions, respond to your statements and I encourage you to do the same to me and to other members. The website does contain some great features: you are able to like other member’s comments, follow members (you receive notifications every time that they post) , and send members private messages. You can access your account information by clicking on your icon at the top right hand corner of the website. You are able to check your messages, change your settings and passwords, and make edits to your profile.
As expected, there are Old Simo rules of engagement. Threats and personal abuse directed at other members will not be tolerated. Threatening and abusive comments aimed at members will be removed and users who behave in this kind of manner will be banned. Old Simo is a welcoming environment regardless of race, creed, gender, sexuality, and religion. Everyone is equally welcomed and all opinions are valued. The Old Simo rules of engagement will be enforced.
We all have the right to an opinion and to express it. We also have the right to controversial thought, and this is very much encouraged. Be bold, be forthright, challenge others and allow yourself to be challenged. Do not take opposition as a personal attack. Allow yourself to learn from others and allow others to learn from you. This is all extremely important and it will aid in elevating our debates and discussions to a higher level. After all, we are on the quest for truth. If you have any questions in regards to the Old Simo rules of engagement please e-mail me otherwise you can find further information within the following links: privacy, user agreement, content policy.
